Social Media and Wheel of Time

I’ve really been wanting to move away from Social Media. And I realize when I say that that blogging is included under that umbrella but I’m really speaking more specifically about facebook, Instagram, snap chat, even reddit. It’s just a constant barrage of information and opinions and a shockingly high lack of citations. It stresses me out. Instagram is not to bad, there really is only so much you can post on IG.. it’s picture based.

However, on Facebook I just find it incredibly frustrating. And it also makes me second guess a lot of friendships. People are BOLD on facebook. I’m all about posting things you believe in and will back up, but if someone posts something on facebook that is in any way controversial it is rare that they are willing to discuss it in person during a live action conversation.

Anyways, with all of that being said, I’m going to focus more on posting here and less on 144 characters or less. With that being said, the most recent thing I’ve posted on facebook about is my completion of the Wheel of Time series..

This is not the first time that I’ve read the series. This would actually be my fourth or fifth read through, but it is the first time I’ve read back to back book 1 through 14. After Robert Jordan died, I did read the following books that were authored by Brandon Sanderson, but not with everything fresh.

It was as good as I remembered it and honestly didn’t find the “slump” in the middle as noticeable. Maybe it’s because there were things I remembered, and things I didn’t, it was really great reading experience. I do have to say that it was a bit rough at the very very end. I forgot that I really only got to read a scant few chapters post climax. I wanted more closure. There was still so much room for the story to wind down. But, the story has to end somewhere, and I’m so happy it was able to end where it did. If it hadn’t been completed after RJ’s death, I would have been scarred for life.

Still, I wish we could’ve gotten more satellite books from the series.

Future Plans and the Misplaced iPod

Would it surprise you if I told you that my iPod is still lost in my couch? You see, what happened is that between the backboard and the cushion support on the bottom if you’re sitting on it it creates a gap.. a perfectly sized gap for something small and flat like an iPod touch to slip through. So now, it’s not that my iPod is lost in the cushions, it’s lost in the very very bottom of the couch. I’m going to have to have my sister help me tip it over, then cut the lining and put my hand in an feel around for it.

Same Old, Same Old

You know, I went grocery shopping today and something really pissed me off. Allow me to share.

Soy milk. If I buy a big container it goes bad before I can drink it all. My local grocery store doesn’t carry small single containers. I can buy a four pack for double the price of the big container, but it doesn’t have as much soy milk! Arrrrghhh!

So, that was my big thorn today. Otherwise everything’s fine. I purchases The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve read it before but since the new volume is out I want to re-read it and be super fresh!

Hmmmmm.

I made a few more feather pieces. One with peacock feathers and another with some pretty pheasant feathers and bells. Pics to come.

Hunger Games

So a few days ago (Okay, exactly three.), I went into Borders looking to find something suitable to read for a few days. Whether you know it or not, I’m actually an avid reader and when my internet went out I jumped head first into my library. After re-reading all that I couldn’t basically recite by heart I went into borders. (Wow ass backwards introduction for sure)

I went in, started talking with the Clerk who had just opened up and she recommended to me The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I had looked through it before and she explained to me that it’s an absolute page turner and the description doesn’t do it justice. I take a leap and decide to buy it.

I finish it in a day. I have to wait a whole day before I go in searching for the second, which I bought yesterday after my shift at work. I finished it before I fell asleep.

It’s hard for me to explain without really giving away the story line and now I know why the description just really didn’t do it justice. It’s post-apocalyptic (sort of), and political (but not heavy), and extremely entertaining. I couldn’t help but read it. Internet? Pfft, why bother. I was reading a kick ass book.

It is classified as Young Adult so the font is big. Yuck, pet peeve. But ITS OKAY. READ IT. You will LIKE IT. I promise.

Now I have to wait until august for the third book. FML.
