Social Media and Wheel of Time

I’ve really been wanting to move away from Social Media. And I realize when I say that that blogging is included under that umbrella but I’m really speaking more specifically about facebook, Instagram, snap chat, even reddit. It’s just a constant barrage of information and opinions and a shockingly high lack of citations. It stresses me out. Instagram is not to bad, there really is only so much you can post on IG.. it’s picture based.

However, on Facebook I just find it incredibly frustrating. And it also makes me second guess a lot of friendships. People are BOLD on facebook. I’m all about posting things you believe in and will back up, but if someone posts something on facebook that is in any way controversial it is rare that they are willing to discuss it in person during a live action conversation.

Anyways, with all of that being said, I’m going to focus more on posting here and less on 144 characters or less. With that being said, the most recent thing I’ve posted on facebook about is my completion of the Wheel of Time series..

This is not the first time that I’ve read the series. This would actually be my fourth or fifth read through, but it is the first time I’ve read back to back book 1 through 14. After Robert Jordan died, I did read the following books that were authored by Brandon Sanderson, but not with everything fresh.

It was as good as I remembered it and honestly didn’t find the “slump” in the middle as noticeable. Maybe it’s because there were things I remembered, and things I didn’t, it was really great reading experience. I do have to say that it was a bit rough at the very very end. I forgot that I really only got to read a scant few chapters post climax. I wanted more closure. There was still so much room for the story to wind down. But, the story has to end somewhere, and I’m so happy it was able to end where it did. If it hadn’t been completed after RJ’s death, I would have been scarred for life.

Still, I wish we could’ve gotten more satellite books from the series.

Vroom Vroooooom

My scooter.

Where do I start?

I love her and I love riding her to work. I don’t love people that drive too close to me, but I love that they cannot mistake me flipping them off and giving them dirt over the shoulder looks.

I love that she’s black and that my helmet is blue. I love that I’m going to get 120 MPG and my tank holds 1.3 gallons.

I love that insurance is super cheap for it.

I wish I could listen to music, but it’s better that I don’t.

Enough about my scooter though. Back to real life.

I’m absolutely struggling to write my Maid of Honor speech. I have started and scrapped every idea I’ve had. It’s go time. I need something. I don’t think my BFF would appreciate it me winging it either. Argh!

I only work two days this week and then it’s off to California. We’re driving. So basically I will be in town long enough for the rehearsal dinner and wedding. Oh well, it is what it is. One of these days I will be able to take a real vacation.

I got new earrings! Pretty silver and mother of pearl plugs. First new “permanent” jewelry I’ve had since 2010.

Mandate of Heaven (MM6)

You know how much time I’ve been spending playing Might & Magic 6? Too damn much. Like HOURS. I haven’t played it in years and got it off of GOG. I grew up playing all the old school RPGs and I always really liked the first person aspect of MM as well as the fact that I could have girls. Go figure.

Life has mellowed out and thank God for that. Things seem to be getting back to normal.

M and I will be house hunting next weekend. We’re getting excited to be moving to The Dalles in two weeks! I just wish we already had a place so I could quit stressing out about it. Seriously.

Not much else to say! Until next time..

Sup

So my blog was deactivated due to a terms of service violation. I imported my old blog so that I could have ONE GIANT RECORD of my life and it turns out that I had a link that wasn’t ok. But it’s cool, I fixed it and WP staff was prompt and friendly. I was honestly expecting either A) no response or, B) a big fuck you. I got neither!

Also enjoy the archives. That shit is old school.

Longest Week Ever!

Good god, this has been a loooong week. This week I’ve:

  1. Driven to and from Redding, California. That’s 640 mi. +/-
  2. Broke down in Redding. Oh fun!
  3. Started my Ketosis diet. Think induction phase of Atkins.
  4. Started crocheting again. Hopefully I will have enough goodies by winter to sell at a craft show.
  5. Worked on my car and fixed ABSOLUTELY nothing. That was a disappointing day.

So there you have it. That’s my week in a nut shell. The drive to Redding was absolutely miserable. I’m never leaving the Willamette Valley again by driving, fuck that, fuck getting stuck anywhere, let alone the surface of the sun.

I’ve lost 4 lbs so far on Keto. I realize I should only weigh myself once a week on the same day but I couldn’t help it. I NEEDED TO SEE RESULTS. And I did.  I’m happy.

Onto Crocheting! I’m making hoodie/scarf things.. or at least I’m working on one at the moment. This one (instagram) is for.. UofO or Oakland A’s, or Green Bay Packers.. You see, I figure there’s a large market so if I push them as team colors instead of just “Green and Yellow!” I might have some luck making some $$$.

It finally cooled off down into the lovely mid-high 70’s here so I’m cleaning and having a fantastic day.
