Younique Makeup Review

What a mother fucker.

Seriously.

But wait, that’s just my opinion. Let me convince you.

My sister decided she wanted to try out selling Younique and that was cool. I was excited that I would be able to play with new makeup. I LOVE NEW MAKEUP.

After we both got pretty damn stoked on it she ordered her start up kit for $100 and signed up to be a Independent Younique Presenter. Ok, whatever, every direct sales makeup line has a name for it’s sales team. NEW MAKEUP.

I finally sat down and put it on. On one eye. I wanted to see how it stood up to my beloved Sephora. I have their Color AnthologyΒ kit and I fucking love it. It is the meat and potatoes of my makeup collection.

I used a purple. So I picked out from Younique the closest light, medium, and dark purple color to compare it to Sephora. I don’t have color names for either of these, so tough titties. I also used their 3D lashes on one eye, THREE LAYERS, and my revlon photoready and an eyelash curler on the others.

I had to use a ridiculous amount of Younique to actually compare to the richness of ONE SWIPE of my Sephora. Younique is loose powder, Sephora is pressed powder. Also the 3D lashes tried to blind me. I’m pretty sure the “fluff” scratched my eyeball. I’ve been wearing mascara for 16 years, this isn’t my first rodeo.

Please forgive the mixed lighting and quality of photo’s. I used everything at my disposal to give you a first hand look at the comparison.

Makeup

Can you tell a difference? I can’t. My sister couldn’t. My mother couldn’t. WHERE ARE MY 3D HOOKER EYELASHES?!

I’m pretty disappointed. Especially considering the amount of pigment I had to use from Younique vs Sephora. Younique is supposed to be pigment ONLY, but it went on light and was a pain in my ass to blend. A PAIN. Blending is supposed to be easy and smooth. Especially when you’re paying out the ass for a pot of pigment.

Oh yeah, and the 3D Lashes? It’s not mascara. I still had to use my OWN mascara. It should be an “Eyelash Enhancer.” I guess. It sure as fuck didn’t enhance mine.

Ignore the retarded look. I was trying to show off the eyelid. Also I have bad skin, who knew.

As you can see, it’s pretty fucking comparable.

BUT WAIT. WHATS THIS? The one on the right has a richer color?!

That’s because it’s fucking Sephora.

Mother. Fucking. Sephora.

Look that’s my whole face. I used their blusher for lip color. I mixed it with chapstick. I don’t know, I was experimenting. But there’s the whole look again.

EVERY PICTURE HAS SEPHORA ON THE RIGHT SIDE.

The Younique is on the side my hair is parted, in case youΒ don’t know left from right. Yes, that’s where my saggy eye lid is, get over it.

Moral of the story? Don’t waste your money. Don’t get sucked into their pyramid scheme. Buy Sephora because it’s amazing and fair priced. Or if you’re rich, get MAC. It’s even more awesome.

And worth the money.

My policy for when i try new make-up is usually, the cheaper the make-up the lower the shirt neckline, or the dasier the dukes (new phrase, let’s try to catch it on). Then the ladies don’t mind that I look like a drop out from the clown college.
also, yeah the other stuff looks better than the new stuff. πŸ˜€

i had no issues i actually traded out my M.A.C and urban decay for youniques pigments and foundations. What a rip off m.a.c. I was skeptical at first but the pigments came out better longe wearing and I dont get rashes anymore.

i actually traded out my M.A.C and urban decay makeup for this brand because I way better results with the pigments plus the ingredients were way better for my skin.

Jeezo! just read this as I’m in the UK and the are launching here in a couple of weeks and I was thinking of becoming a ‘Presenter’! So glad I read your post.

    • I’m glad my post could help. Being a “Presenter” is not all it’s cracked up to be either. It’s a glorified pyramid scheme and not only that, you’re not allowed to keep inventory, so you miss the impulse purchase opportunities.

I googled “Younigue 3D scratched cornea” and found your post. I was also temporarily blinded by that overpriced fluff. I now have white spots on both irises and an apt with the eye doctor. Bastards! I’m heading to the closest Sephora.

    • I know right? I actually got some cheap $2 mascara at Target and it works just fine. The ideal of; “More expensive means better product!!!” Is just a crock of… well, you know where I’m going with that.

Not allowed to keep inventory? That is not correct. They actually encourage you to have cash and carry items. Younique is definitely NOT a pyramid scheme. It’s multi-level marketing which is a different thing altogether.
At the end of the day though, you’re entitled to your opinion and you can use whichever products you’re happy with.

    • You may want to take the time to read the terms of agreement you sign when signing up to be an associate. It’s not implicitly stated, but it is in the small print. Or, I should say, it was at the time of this article. Thank you for taking the time to read it!

    • I’m glad the mascara works for you. It did nothing for me. I don’t make or lose money by having this opinion. However I see you’ve shared your younique URL, so that must be where we differ. πŸ™‚

I find it hard to believe that it’s 2 different products on your face, the lashes look identical and so do the colours, there would be variations in texture of your lashes and colour of the pigments ESPECIALLY since the formulas would be very different… I went from using alll different types of makeup trained esthetics with MAC and i won’t use anything but Younique now.. I call bluff on your review. I think posting photos of your product while doing this review would have been better. :/

    Skeptical

    • Well, all you can do is trust me. I don’t wear heavy makeup, maybe that’s the problem? I don’t cake it on?

I really have no reason to lie about this, I gain absolutely nothing. As you can tell, my blog isn’t some kind of review blog where I make big bucks from advertisements.

I use Sephora almost exclusively. I was messing around with the Younique and realized I had almost an IDENTICAL palette with my Sephora.

You can call all the bluff you want. It really doesn’t matter to me. Younique is junk. I know it’s true, so I don’t really care if you don’t believe me. πŸ™‚

they’re a brand new business, always making new products, and they now have a new 3D fiber lash mascara, which is the dogs bollocks! And u don’t get fibers in your eyes if you use it correctly πŸ‘

Love the post. Hilarious!! Of course all the people defending the younique products are the ones selling them. LOL. But you know, to which its own. They want to be sucked into the pyramid scheme then shiiiiiiiiiii have at it. I feel bad for their family and friends, as well as gullible strangers. I tried the mascara for fun. It nearly blinded me too. I have a friend who bought it from a co worker, and she absolutely cursed the damn thing. Anyways have you seen the BS 5 drop full coverage??? What a load of horse shit.

    • Hahaha You definitely nailed that one on the head. I have no idea what the 5 drop full coverage is, but I’m sure it’s another “fantastic” product of Younique. You know what they say, a fool and their money are easily parted.

  8. Molly44's avatar Molly44 says:

$29 for this mascara is outrageous! Even Makeup Forever’s mascara is cheaper and I consider their products to be a bit pricey. Especially since they’re a “brand new business” as someone put it in another comment.
Hell, I’d bet that it’s no better than a Covergirl product, or possibly worse.

Honestly the people I see peddling this trash of a company don’t seem to know jack about makeup, or really how to apply it for that matter.

FYI to a commenter above: MLM is the same thing as a pyramid scheme! Just because you were brainwashed to call it by something else does not make it so. What’s next, calling it a reverse funnel system?
