Commerce

My sister sells stuff on Etsy.com and makes money. I’ve considered the idea but never really ran with it. You see, while I can do a lot of crafty stuff my attention span for it is very limited. However, I am really really good at Crochet. I taught it in Oregon as well as doing demo’s and making hats here and there for my friends. I’ve worked on projects privately but never for any sort of income, or expected sales. People just don’t like crochet. Or so I thought.

I browsed around Etsy and decided to see what kind of random shit people were crocheting and trying to market these days. And then I see shit like this: http://www.etsy.com/shop_sold.php?user_id=5178081 Okay, so what the fuck. People are actually buying these?! I can make these!

So I decided to try my hand at making a beret/tam/whatever-the-fuck hippy/indie hat. http://twitpic.com/1csmfu It wasn’t very hard, that’s for damn sure. I kept track of my pattern and just improvised as I went along. I actually never had to frog (pull out) any of the rows. That surprised me.

Now I’m on a hat kick. Haha. Ironic. I always thought people didn’t like crochet. Hopefully I can make some money on the side.

Sober April

This month is going to be a very strenuous month for me. I’ve given up drinking. And quiet a few other things. I want to use this month to save money and to get into better shape. With some help from my sister I’ve worked out the following guidelines for april:

  1. – No booze. AT ALL ZERO NONE ZILCH. If you know me in person you realize that this is not an easy sacrifice
  2. + Diet Dr Pepper. This will be my only caffeine intake.
  3. – Zero Carb Monsters
  4. – FiveHour Energy
  5. – Rockstars
  6. + Water WATER WATER. I’m going to have water readily available at all times. Even if it’s mixed with my little crystal light lemonade things so that I actually want to drink it. I know that I’m usually just thirsty when I feel hunger.
  7. + 20 minutes of walking, AT LEAST, every day. This will probably become longer, but I’m trying to set realistic goals
  8. + Continuing to spin my poi while strengthening my core.
  9. + Buy a measuring cup for a true ‘cup’ or 8oz.

I hope I don’t overwhelm myself with this. I don’t think it will be too bad, plus I can’t wait to see how much money I save, if nothing else. I’m just over feeling not completely comfortable in my own skin. Wishing wont do any good. I want to be stoked on life by the time summer comes.

Goodbye March

Well, this evening I finally installed XP on my laptop. Also my laptops keyboard is totally fubar so I apologize for any typos in advance. So, about the laptop..

About a week ago I had put UBUNTU on it because it was highly recommended to me by a friend who is far more awesome with computers than I myself am. I installed, played with it for a little while, then sadly realized that I suck with computers and that Microsoft has brainwashed me into being unable to do anything fancy.

So that lasted about two days before I packed up the laptop and put it back in my closet until further notice. A friend of mine sent me a copy of XP and of course I jumped on the laptop and installed it. Yay. I have to say though, I did forget how much I just kicked this laptops ass. One usb port doesn’t work at all, the other is lose within it’s socket, I’mmissing the backspace key, my K and spacebar and a few other keys are semi functional at best and my mouse pad is just.. fuckin ridiculous. But, I can use it and thats good enough for me. 🙂

I’ve requested time off and bought tickets so I will be leaving for Oregon on April 29th. I arrive on the 30th. I’m also doing this weird little thing called Sober April that some of my friends are doing on facebook.

After how much I drank last month I think my liver and kidney’s could use it. Plus my low tolerance will make my trip a little less expensive.. and it will help me save money up until my trip. Yay.

I can’t wait to see Mike, of course, and my family. I seriously miss my family so so soooo much. I want to be more involved in neice, Olivia’s, life.

So yeah, farewell March, see you next year.

Back to Reality

I spent a completely wonderful week with my love. It was a very nice staycation. We did so many things I cannot even begin to describe them, so I will just leave it at I am now very familiar with downtown and playing a tourist in your own town is fucking weird. Especially when it’s a tourist town. And I think I hate tourists. And my town is too fucking expensive.

I worked today, and it was surprisingly nice. Like.. it didn’t suck and I didn’t walk away wanting to burn the place down. So that’s good! Very good indeed.

I put in my request for some time off at the end of April so I can go up and visit him. I miss Oregon and want to see my family. Getting to see him is just a cherry on top 😀

Today is the Day..

Well, Mike will be here in about four or five hours. I’m super excited.

However, there are drawbacks. Let me list how much my day is being ridiculous.

  1. Laundry: My washing machine suddenly decided it didn’t want to work anymore. I have no way to get to a laundromat.. So I get to spend my first day with mike DOING LAUNDRY. WTF GOD WTF.
  2. My Jaw. I was pain free for two glorious days. Apparently the penicillin doesn’t hold off an infection. So now I’m spiraling back into pain city. At least I have a few vicodins left.
  3. A ride to the hotel. Haven’t figured this one out yet. Maybe my dad will show up and be like SURE NO PROBLEM. But I’m not getting my hopes up.
  4. Money money money. A week off of work is making my bank account hurt like no one’s business. At least I’m good at being a cheap ass.

Okay, so I realize that’s not all life threatening things. I just finished all my packing right now. I hand washed my under garments because I do that anyway, but since it’s not particularly hot right this second they’re taking FOREVER to dry. I took the blow dryer to some of it before getting bored and stopping.

Also, for some reason I could only find like five socks. Not six, not four. Five. I know I have like a million pairs of socks, so.. I think theres something in my room stealing them. Along with tank tops because I could only find two of those. Obviously, I did not plan ahead very well.

Now that I’m sure you’re sick of reading about my laundry woes I will talk about other stuff.

St Patricks day was good! I got to hang out with some awesome friends of mine. Didn’t hit the bar, just hung out at one of their’s house. I drank a good portion of the bottle of Sailor Jerry’s and woke up with the worst hang over I’ve had in a long time. I think it was the shot of tequila (last thing I drank) that really fucked me up though. I blame that for my hangover. Because normally, I’m pretty resilient. Otherwise though, my social life has been on a hiatus.

My boss is awesome and I don’t go back to work until Wednesday. So I have lots of days with Mike. I have Thursday off, then work Friday and Saturday. Mike is leaving Friday so that’s okay with me.

Lots of pictures will be taken. 😀
