Hunger Games

So a few days ago (Okay, exactly three.), I went into Borders looking to find something suitable to read for a few days. Whether you know it or not, I’m actually an avid reader and when my internet went out I jumped head first into my library. After re-reading all that I couldn’t basically recite by heart I went into borders. (Wow ass backwards introduction for sure)

I went in, started talking with the Clerk who had just opened up and she recommended to me The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I had looked through it before and she explained to me that it’s an absolute page turner and the description doesn’t do it justice. I take a leap and decide to buy it.

I finish it in a day. I have to wait a whole day before I go in searching for the second, which I bought yesterday after my shift at work. I finished it before I fell asleep.

It’s hard for me to explain without really giving away the story line and now I know why the description just really didn’t do it justice. It’s post-apocalyptic (sort of), and political (but not heavy), and extremely entertaining. I couldn’t help but read it. Internet? Pfft, why bother. I was reading a kick ass book.

It is classified as Young Adult so the font is big. Yuck, pet peeve. But ITS OKAY. READ IT. You will LIKE IT. I promise.

Now I have to wait until august for the third book. FML.

JediNinja

As I laid to rest TheBeast and let Comcast shut off my services I realized that eventually I would have to get a new computer. Friends tried to help to no avail and sadly I slipped into the netherworld of a tech-savvy person with no internet access.

And no possibility of having it in the near future.

I tried to pull necromancy on BigSaur but, once more, my efforts were thwarted.

Weeks roll by and I continue the go to work, come home, read, go to work, come home, read. I actually started watching TV. Tool Academy? Oh yes. Jersey Shore? Who wasn’t watching that! I could feel myself losing intelligence points simply by not having google at my fingertips.

Then tax season came around. Oh sweet sweet tax season. And then I finally got paid money owed to me by my work. Internet, meet JediNinja .

I got money, a lot of money, all at once. I knew at that moment when I walked away from my bank (I had to confirm that I didn’t mishear the automated message 5 times about my bank acct balance), that it was time to invest. I took a stroll next door to Best Buy.. I browse and browse and then my bestbuy homies show up and find out what I’m doing and take me to this almost hidden aisle and point out that computer to me.

It’s marked at $475 which is already a deal. I decide to take it. I find out I can only get the display model, I don’t care, discount. I get GeekSquad coverage (because I break shit), and more of a discount. I pay around $500.

It has a remote.

Poi poi poi poi poi poi poi .. .

So hopefully I mentioned in a previous post that I got a set of Poi! IF not, well, I did. I actually got them from HOP and I have to admit that this place is amazing and I will refer EVERYONE to them. If you put in the promotional/referal code Amber33 they will give you a discount.

Anyway so I got some poi and i’ve been playing with them nonstop. Im a total addict. I have my spins down, forward, reverse, split time and I actually even know a few moves. What’s funny is the moves I learned on my own are from jumping rope excessively as a kid. Same motion. I was always pretty damn awesome at jump rope. I still enjoy doing it.

So today I was outside practicing new techniques (thanks to the awesome-o-3000 tutorials on HOP) and I hit myself in the back of the head. My poi’s aren’t super hard so I was like whatever and kept spinning. Then I hit myself in the knee and was like OW. I pulled up my jean leg and sure as shit I have bruises all over my knee. I realized at that moment that for every time I hit myself in the head/torso, I hit myself in the knee’s 10 times. So I had to quit and that sucks.

I went to Joe’s going away party last night. It was semi-themed for the Navy.. since that’s where he’s going. I Got some pretty awesome pics too. Maybe I will put them on picasa so you can see them.

Oh yeah and Mike is officially my significant other. I’m in love and it’s wonderful.

lite brite

I want one. A giant lite brite that is. I am considering sketching up some drafts to build a large one.

Today was a long day in so many ways I really don’t want to recount all the crappy things that happened. All I will say though is that it ended on a great note. M sent me flowers at my work. Very sweet. I especially love the fact that I got to show them off. I would say I’ve definitely upgraded since the last boy I was in a serious relationship with.. which was almost two years ago. Ha.

I Also got my poi in the mail today. I played with them for about an hour before the rain got to be too much for me. I am definitely going to be spending most of my day tomorrow outside playing with them. I want to at least master the forward to reverse switch. Upper and low turns so that I can be like BA BLAM and be going in the opposite direction.
